What to watch out for when you have a credit card
It is truly amazing what a little piece of plastic can do for your life. It can make everything so much easier and more convenient but if it is not treated right. The convenience that comes with a credit card is not a free one, you may not realize it but you are spending a lot of money each year to use that credit card.
If you are thinking about getting a credit card you need to take the time to read every detail of the application form contract. Credit card companies are thieves, to put it bluntly, and you need to be cautious when dealing with them. Most people will still use their credit cards but it is still important that you know what you are getting into, at least that way there will be no unpleasant surprises down the road.
How long do you think the average grace period is? If you were to take a poll on the street you would probably hear most people tell you that the grace period on their credit card is a month. And you would probably find that most of these people were wrong. Most grace periods are more like 21 days or so. Grace periods are getting shorter and shorter as credit card companies are getting reedier and greedier.
And did you know that credit card companies will raise your interest rate if you are late paying your monthly bills? I am not talking about your monthly credit card bills either, I mean your other bills. Even if you pay them each month but they see you are not paying your heating bill, they can and often will, raise your interest rate. They have eagle eyes these companies and they watch the credit reports of their clients for things like this. Any excuse to make more money off of you.
That is why it is so vital that you read the fine print. Learn about credit cards before you go out and get one. At least that way you will know what to watch out for and you are shopping for the right one. For your circumstances.
